Band recording session. Lightbox

4 August 2008 2 Comments

I was invited to photograph a local band’s recording session. I had been to the studio before so I knew what to expect from the lighting conditions; I made sure I packed my trusty SB-800 flash units. The 5 piece band Lightbox had already been setting up and recording for few hours by the time I had arrived.

I shot while they were recording which is always a creative process; the lads are concentrating on their music too much to notice me. They took a break to do some scenic shots of them in a nearby field which was an amazing location which I will definitely use again. I was not happy about the lights outside ironically as I’m normally adjusting lights indoors; that Sunday afternoon was overcast, the vast blanket of gray cloud made it very difficult to find shadow and contrast. However, after some adjustments in Adobe Lightroom I came up with some shots I am satisfied with.

The lads didn’t want me to post them online with the exception of one of my choosing, and I’m not allowed to post the really good ones either!!!
