Wired at The Goat pub, Berkhamsted.

I was coming home from a small Wedding Reception shoot in Tunbridge Wells. Even though I was very tired I was determined not to go home just yet, it was only 9PM!

I knew a friend’s band called Wired were playing in Berkhamsted which was on the way home, so after a couple of phone calls I got the address and slumped myself in the corner of the Goat Pub. The Goat is a typical small town pub, on a corner, an old building with character and a miserable meathead bouncer watching the door who has all the social skills of Prince Philip!

When Wired went on, I was happy to just sit back and enjoy the show. I had never seen my mate’s band perform before so it was a great surprise to hear them knock out perfect renditions from The Who, Beatles, Amy Winehouse, The Stones and more! There was another photographer there but looked liked a hobbyist. Nothing wrong with that but it made me self conscious about my camera gear. Because I had just come back from a shoot, I had my gear with me. Still, I was happy to just watch the band through the first set. By the time they started the second set, the crowd were in the mood to raise the roof. Wired responded and just upped their game. I was caught up in the buzz; almost everyone was on their feet so I had to take some shots of this. I grabbed my D3 and 14-24mm and made my way right up to the front and clicked away. The conditions were pretty easy to shoot in; between the band’s lighting and the house spot lights I didn’t struggle getting shots of the band. The tricky part was trying to move because by now the crowd had surged forward and it was just heaving! I stayed where I was right at the front and got these shots.

    Hi Terry,
I was the rank amateur taking the other shots for the band, I’m a friend like yourself of one of the band. Great shots, I’m Learning!

[...] We saw WIRED were packing up so we decided to leave to.  It was a real shame as I have seen WIRED play before and they literally stormed the Goat Pub (see here for photos). [...]
