Spending time with the children of Uganda. Day 3

9 June 2009 No Comment

I had met some of the children yesterday so today was a better opportunity to spend more time with them. I deliberately did not ask about their past; I felt that whatever they would reply I would never fully understand their experiences. But when I met them, the most wonderful thing was how they really enjoy the company of each other and are just great children!! I see kids in England who are spoilt, crude, rude and do not appreciate how easy they have it, so for me it was PURE JOY to see kids being kids; laughing, chasing, hiding, playing tag, chatting and reading. There is a innocence about them which is amazing knowing where they come from. They are so wonderful that it is very easy to be overwhelm by their enthusiasm for life and Jesus.

I hope these children have a normal life; a few of them aspire to have greatness and surprisingly some even want to return to Gulu where the trouble is (or was).

If you ever had doubt about love in this harsh world, then take a trip to Uganda and be surrounded by joy and hope. There is no hype, no glory, no fiction about the Ugandans. I think all of us would like a bit of that in our lives…
