New Wine 2009, Shepton Mallet

9 August 2009 No Comment

I returned yesterday from probably the most significant conference I have ever been to. Most of you will not have heard of it, it is a Christian event called New Wine down in Somerset.

This website is not the proper forum to discuss the purpose of the conference, however I did want to write about the lack of photographic coverage of the event. The way the entire conference is setup was there are morning and evening meetings with about 15-20 seminars during the day. It’s not possible for an individual to go to every seminar, but it does illustrated the shear number of things happening. I attended quite a few of these, and there was a no media coverage at all in all but the morning and evening meetings (even those rarely had a photographer there).

It’s a very disappointing that a conference this big does not promote the event with photography. In the booklet, the prohibit photography in any of the venues so it makes it impossible (unless you’re cheeky) to shoot during the talks…

Next year, I plan on changing that but approaching the organizers to cover the event for them.

As you can appreciate, I have no photos I can show within the venues as it was not permitted. Such a shame as I believe it is such a positive event that I believe I can help promote. Ah well, perhaps next year.
