Kit Holmes at Aylesbury.
Infectious with her charm and playful in her performance. That’s how I would describe the wonderful Kit Holmes.
On a night at Southcourt Studios there was an air of the unexpected. I arrived as Kit was completing her sound check. I confess I had not heard of ms Holmes before but that is the joy of going to small gigs. Last time I saw a live gig was Clive Carroll and that was an experience I will always remember.
Kit had it tougher tonight I felt. The audience were warm to her but were unfamiliar with her name and her work, so from scratch she had to build a workable relationship with us and she succeeded with playfulness and exquisite talent. Clive Carroll was a performer who sat down and planted himself to one spot, Kit danced her way around the stage and owned it as if were her own living.
It was a great night, I’m a huge fan. Kit did an amazing job warming to the audience. Her guitar playing if flawless. Her voice demonstrates a maturity that can only be compared to the likes of Ella Fitzgerald. I hope to see more of her soon.
