True Beat. Ska Music has a showcase.

I was invited along to the Rickmansworth Festival on Saturday by Wired. I was there to cover their performance off and on the stage.
Since Wired were headlining I also had quite a few bands playing before them, one of them was a Ska band called True Beat. I was very impressed with their stage performance and couldn’t help getting some shots which I’m proud of. Let me know what you think!?

Clive Carroll at Southcourt Studios, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

I am literally speechless, I cannot put to words what this man can do with a guitar. So, I shall let these photos try to convey what I want to say.

Behind the scenes from Clive Carroll’s gig at Southcourt Studios, Aylesbury

I’m actually preparing for another shoot today but I am still excited from last night’s performance by legendary folk guitarist Clive Carroll. I’ll work on his actual photos later but for now I’ve just compiled a few ‘behind the scenes’ shots from Southcourt Studios. If you recognize yourself, then leave a comment!

Clive Carroll at Southcourt Studios, Aylesbury.

There are only a few moments in life that as they are happening you just know you will never forget, tonight was one of those moments for me when I heard the lush sounds from Mr Clive Carroll. I’ve actually just got home, I’m archiving the files as I type, but I wanted to give a very small sneak peek from tonight.

Michael Jackson’s Man in the Mirror Cover version

I was in the mood for some MJ, but rather than listen to his original Man in the Mirror I wanted to see what the talented world out there can do. After a very quick search on YouTube I found this guy called Gabe Bondoc. He’s very talented. His treatment of a classic is done with tenderness and respectfully.
Click the video, have a listen and comment below. What do you think? Do you hate it? Do you even prefer it the MJ’s classic?

These are Gabe’s details.

The Red Bullets at the PictureDrome, Northampton.

The Picturedrome is a classic venue that heralds it’s greatest glory days back in the 60s. From the front it’s unasuming but it’s when you enter and get to the back to the main hall is where it’s splendor comes into sight. The high ceiling, art deco lights and a bar that stretches all the way across is wonderful, and a great setting to hold a music gig.
I have already said so much about the Red Bullets so I won’t say much except they are getting better and better as …

Jazz…the smoothest kind of smooth.

Gigphotographer was lucky enough to spend a day with jazz musicians. Yes I did have a dozen things to do, but because things have been very hectic lately I made a deliberate effort to slow my life down. And with that I spent a lazy Sunday afternoon with Jazz Juice. Five very talented musicians who just know how to melt those notes on the page. Five instruments that are as individual as they are united in create a free flowing rainbow of sound.
Other musical genres set out to make a …

Jazz Juice recording & photo session.

Life is funny isn’ t it? You can meet someone through someone else and then become good friends and the then business partners. That is the case with Gary Mullins. A universal “solid bloke” and amazing guitar player.
Today, I had the pleasure of photographing his band Jazz Juice during a recording session at Southcourt Studios. It was also THE perfect opportunity to do some portrait shots of him and his band. The actual photos will come soon, but in the meantime, here’s a little teaser…
