I have to say, this band really surprised me. Their personalities really shone through their performance, and you could genuinely feel the enjoyment, pleasure and fun in The Echoes’ set! The lads were all very animated which made them great to photograph. I loved their harmonies, and their presence onstage just enticed you in. I still have one of their songs stuck in my head; I just can’t stop humming it!

One of Australia’s greatest exports, along with Rolf Harris, are fighting hard. They have seemingly been overshadowed by newer bands. Let’s be honest, the music scene has never been this crowded. However in the darkness that is over-marketed rubbish that has been dumped in the UK charts, JET come up with a instant rock pleasing anthemic album. Shaka Rock is pure hard riffed contemporary rock. I can imagine most of the tracks being a soundtrack to a hip Hollywood film!
However, I’m not here to discuss the contents, as a Gig …

I just wanted to share this one out there. It was taken on the first day of the us photographing them. Ross was just chilling out with some other band members when I asked Ross to move so that I could have that great landscape behind him. After a bit of post editing, I think the shot worked out better than I expected.

The performance was kept short and sweet, which meant I was permanently on my toes, whipping round to get those all important ‘in the moment’ shots. It was great to hear some new sounds from the band, and catch a few unexpected additions of Ellie’s performance to the lapping it up crowd…lets just say, monolopy’s not just for playing at home.

Frowser were the last to come on at Bellfest. Adrienne (the even organizer) warned the crowd these are going to be the loudest band of the event. She wasn’t wrong! I sat with a friend Neil who came from Aylesbury to see them. Apparently they have been around for a while. He too warned me they would be electric; as I watched them setup they seemed unassuming. Then they started to pile on their amps. There must have been 5-6 large amps on a stage this is a little bigger …

Today’s event can only be described as a big gig in a small venue. The Bell pub in Waddesdon was the setting. It is a modest sized pub with a tiny garden where BellFest was held.
I will be pushing photos all this coming week, but I just wanted to say a big thank you to Adrienne from RunWay Studios for putting on a great list of bands for such a tiny event. The quality was amazing, as was the noise levels.

What does it mean to be a Professional Photographer?
This post is not about going to talk about how to be a Photographer; I’m sure you will know your F-Stops from your ISO levels. This is a short article about becoming being a paid Professional Photographer.
I receive email from students and folks from all walks of life asking to join me at a gig or Wedding. Unfortunately I have to turn all of them down (but I never ignore them, that’s just rude). I tell them there is one massive difference …

Feels like home
I received an invite a week ago asking if I could go to a friend’s house and watch a Guilford based band called 10P Short gig in their living room. A link was provided to the band’s MySpace page and I listened to their tracks. I was impressed.
Packing to photograph in a small arena
I thought about packing light, but I knew the lighting quality in the typical living room would be poor at best, so I took out my Nikon D3. Also I knew I would be in …
