One act I wanted to see at the 2009 Rickmansworth Festival the young acoustic player Tom Craven. He was tucked away in the beer tent but a sizable crowd gathered to watch him play. I liked his sound and was impressed with his songs.
I sincerely hope Tom has the drive and hunger to do well in the music business; he has the talent, now he just needs the audacity and the will to succeed.

The anticipation for the evening acts was easily felt. The thousand plus strong crowd were in good spirits, some far too wobbly to attempt standing let alone dancing! Kelly and I wondered the grounds looking for interesting people doing interesting things. There were plenty of people to take photographs of but I quickly got bored of that. We wondered towards the lake where a group of swans were just cleaning themselves as the sun set perfectly on them we we took a few shots of them; Kelly was braver than …

As a surprise I arranged for a birthday present for my mate Kelly. After persistent asking she never told me what she wanted so I ask one of her favourite bands Slashed Seat Affair if they could do me a big favour; because the guys are such gems they were very keen and generous to help.
I received it this morning and put it in a frame. But before I wrapped it up I just had to take a picture because I thought it was just so damn cool that the …

I was coming home from a small Wedding Reception shoot in Tunbridge Wells. Even though I was very tired I was determined not to go home just yet, it was only 9PM!
I knew a friend’s band called Wired were playing in Berkhamsted which was on the way home, so after a couple of phone calls I got the address and slumped myself in the corner of the Goat Pub. The Goat is a typical small town pub, on a corner, an old building with character and a miserable meathead bouncer …

This is self indulgent, but I don’t care. Back in 2007 I was passionate about writing songs so with the help of my very talented friend Gary Mullins from Aylesbury band Lightbox, we did one take just to see what we could get. I setup the video camera and away we went!
This was done just as I was leaving for Australia.

This is the original version which curiously has had over 3000 views!

I had always wanted to visit historic Cambridge so an opportunity came along with my mate Kelly. She was meeting a friend of hers in town so I went around by myself. I happy when I’m taking photos in a city I’m unfamiliar with. Down one street I heard a street performance; my curiosity got the better of me so I had to see who it was. They are a band called C C Smuggler; they describe their sound as “Rag and Bone county n Blue from the shires…” I …

The weather hasn’t been kind today but that did not dampen the spirited people of Aylesbury church community. The idea is to create a link from the churches to the people of Aylesbury; this includes prayers for healing, placing flowers on a cross, a prayer wall, massages, children’s events and just to reach out to the town.
I’m a strong support of this, but I can also see how difficult it must be get people to talk to Christians when life is so hard! Anyway, I gave my support and took …

You hear it all the time at Award ceremonies, gigs and on the back of Album, “We couldn’t do it with our fans!”. That is so true! Without those dedicated people who support the acts then it means nothing; there are musicians who do it for the art which I respect but I suspect many artists do it so that they can reach out to people; to move them emotionally, to take them on a roller-coaster ride! This is why fans are so important!
So, as a tribute to those who …

A huge personal thank you from Kelly (check out her website) and I for all those who have seen the Slashed Seat Affair photos and a big hug to those who have left comments on the blog! The response has been overwhelming, it just proves with a tiny bit of luck, a very attractive band and a bit of online networking you can produce some great results. Gigphotographer.com is still a very young website but with your help I know it will grow and grow in 2009.
Today, I will be …

Roger Daltrey photos from Party in the Paddock 2008

Mr Daltrey is a true legend, and it is my honour to display these photos of the the great man on my blog. These photos were taken with a Nikon D300 & a basic Nikon D40x using a combination of Nikon’s 24-70mm F2.8 and the 70-200mm F2.8 AS-F VR.
On stage, Roger Daltrey was on form. The man has obviously been performing for years but his energy and enthusiasm never wavered. It was just a shame I could not have been nearer the front of the stage; it was a modest …
