I love it when something surprises you with something totally unexpected. Take this band who call themselves The Original Sinners. That is quite a name (and reputation) to live up to. Now take into consideration the members of this band look like they are very close friends with Mr Jack Daniels!
It’s not often that I’m surprised, but I certainly enjoy it when I am. The Original Sinners came on and just blasted Aylesbury with a wall of sound, when the crowd picked themselves up they were presented with an onslaught …

Claire is one of those talented musicians who is also a bit of a perfectionist, but this reflects in her performances on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the middle of Aylesbury. Without drama or pretension, she played through her set like an artist who had been perfecting her act up until the last minute; fine tuning every little bit she could.
Behind stage, she was as bubbly and engaging as ever. She will always greet you with a warm smile, and be the first to be support of other artists. GigPhotographer …

GigPhotographer’s good friend Mike Lee played at Hobble on the Cobble. His cool, calm persona reflects his style of music and playing. He surprised everyone with a few tributes to the late great Michael Jackson. His T-Shirt should have been a give away though.
It’s always good to see Mike perform, and from what he told me, he was doing a “tour of Buckinghamshire in one day” that day
Good luck to Mike, and we hope to see him play soon.

When I first saw that Monte Carlo were playing at Aylesbury’s Hobble on the Cobble I was excited as I had previously heard them when they were ‘Fluid Lines’ and was eager to hear if they had changed anything else…
Their sound was still as energetic and capturing as it was and their new name reflects their new approach, regardless of the limitless stories they’ve told different people about the real reason for their name change; I was silly enough to fall for one of them – thanks Calum!
Their cheeky smiles …

These two were a pleasure to photograph and a real treat to hear their music. I had not heard them perform prior to this festival, but their relaxed attitudes and friendly faces made me feel like I already knew them.
Their folky style, country boy style made them a band that seemed new but very familiar.
The brothers Alex and Rolf are very simple to photograph because they already have an interesting look about them. Alex gives al ot of heart while, although naff to say, Rolf has the soul. A beautiful …

Kajagoogoo arrived backstage to Hobble on the Cobble, swarmed by an army of a crowd awaiting their turn to get a glimpse of the band. They were slightly jaded by time, but still have the attitudes of young hungry rockers.
The expectant crowd were not disappointed as they walked on the stage. They were met by a exuberant cheer as they started their set.
Terry and I were limited to the first two songs (one short of the standard three) so it did add a bit of pressure to get worthy photos. …

I could throw so many cliches and superlatives at this band that it would become inappropriate so I won’t go on about how they work up Buckinghamshire with their performance, nor will I talk about how like real Pros they went on stage and gave it their all even though the lead singer Ellie had little rest after a previous day of rehearsal and gigging until the wee hours. And one thing I won’t ever mention is how throughout the day they behaved like rock stars, swearing, poking, sticking up …

I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!!!
Put very simply, I wanted three of the bands I love to photograph into one big group shot. I had a small window of opportunity to get this done at the Aylesbury Festival over the weekend. It was a matter of contacting them on Facebook, getting them to agree to it initially and then figure out when is the best time to get everyone together. The latter was problematic because the bands were on at very different times to each to each other!
I …
