Aylesbury Festival 2009

Timing is everything, so even though I totally busy with Wedding Projects, it is crucial I post something about the Aylesbury Festival this week. So this post is just a summary of the two days photographically. I will go into more detail of the bands including my pet project of the weekend which I very pleased about; more will be revealed later in the week.

Tramp Etiquette at the Aylesbury Festival 2009

It is difficult to explain to almost everyone I talk to why I do Gig Photography when I say to them there is no money in this for me when photographing small, local, unsigned bands. I know all start up bands struggle financial because they sacrifice most of what they have to get notice, but more importantly be noticed by the right person.
I devote part of my time to Gig Photography because it is damn good fun. It isn’t about money, not at this stage anyway. At Aylesbury festival I …

Just a teaser. I was privileged to photograph the final Netball tournament in Stoke Mandeville this evening. For me it was a gruelling 3 hours of rushing around for the best angles while trying not to get in the referee’s way. All the girls played with passion and sportsmanship. Towards the end of the evening one poor girl really busted up her ankle which swelled up to the size of of an Orange!
More photos to come soon, but as usual I am sensitive to the fact some people may not …

I’ll confess, I’ve never seen a netball game before let alone a tournament. I never considered it a sport that deserved my attention. BUT (notice the emphasis on the but) I will accept that I am wrong. Netball is fast paced, exhausting and frighteningly competitive.
I used to believe it was graceful and at a more leisurely pace, I was so wrong! The players’ pace and stamina was relentless, I could tell they were passionate as every pass, interception and marking was committed to the desire to win.
I got some great …

I recently went to an event in Aylesbury which had a few bands playing in an outside popular music venue, Kingsbury Square.  Luckily, I decided to take my D90 with me, as if I had not, I would have missed capturing this energetic, powerful voice and soul of what I can only describe as a rising star, the magnificently talented; Olivia.
Your comments on this post would be much appreciated.

The weather hasn’t been kind today but that did not dampen the spirited people of Aylesbury church community. The idea is to create a link from the churches to the people of Aylesbury; this includes prayers for healing, placing flowers on a cross, a prayer wall, massages, children’s events and just to reach out to the town.
I’m a strong support of this, but I can also see how difficult it must be get people to talk to Christians when life is so hard! Anyway, I gave my support and took …

Kelly and I weren’t going to see The Red Bullets last night as we both had something just as important to attend. After the evening’s event we both went home. Much to my surprise she rings me thirty minutes later and this was the entire conversation:
“Hello?”
“Be spontaneous!”
“OK”
“Go to the Slug”
“Now?
“Yes!!”
“OK”
As you can see, Shakespeare couldn’t write anything better than that!
I picked her up. We arrived at the Slug just as they were playing Duffy’s Mercy. I went straight to the bar, Kelly went straight to the Bullets! I had forgotten …
