With a soft and gentle presence Claire manages to capture the audience with beautiful clarity in her voice and exquisite guitar playing.
Claire was the first act on so the natural light was still dominating the courtyard; it was overcast which was perfect as the organizer Stuart Robb had arranged for a lighting engineer to be there. I cannot say enough just how amazing Matt from PRG.COM was in his lighting. Claire was lit beautifully with soft blue lights, warm yellows. I had minor difficulties in finding the right white balance; …

Based on a recommendation, I’ll borrowed a friend’s Pocketwizard for this evening’s gig. Basically, these devices triggers Flash units from your camera. My 2 SB-800s already have wireless trigger system built in but it isn’t always consistent and because the SB-800s are using Infra-Red as the transmission carrier then they need line of sight to be activated; this means if anything is blocking between camera and flash unit then it won’t fire. With the Pocket Wizards they are using radio frequencies so they should be more reliable. Initial tests have …

Phew, it’s been hectic. Sooo much to do this week but I finally edited the last band. They’re called Bridgefield, a 5 piece band with a firey lead vocals and a dynamic bass player. A detailed view on the new Nikon D700. I’m watching this camera very closely especially with comparisons to the big daddy Nikon D3. There is a detailed comparison between the D700, D300 and the D3. As owners start posting their photos and opinions you can be sure this photograph will be trying to get his hands on one soon.

I attended a batism at a school pool. I took quite a few photos, but I particularly like this one because of it’s natural nature.

Over the weekend I took a mate out hiking; apparently he had never been hiking before! It was an easy 12 miles, nothing technical at all. I took out my trusty Nikon and packed my Fisheye lens and my 18-200mm. My friend wasn’t really sympathetic to the fact that I wanted to take loads of photos but not snaps, so a few times he just went ahead and I caught up But it was an absolute hoot so I’m planning another route very soon.

I’m helping a friend decorate his house, there’s a Polish plasterer here. With his broken ‘Engleesh’ and his political views he’s certainly a dynamic character. However, there was a moment where the low sun was lighting up the room he was plastering. He was covered in dirt, paint, glue and all sorts and there was a moment he was really concentrating on his face, there was dust kicking up by his feet as he was shuffling along the wall he was plastering and it would have made a BRILLIANT photo… …
