I had done my homework before Saturday and I knew this band were going to rip it up. There is a lot of attitude in their songs so I could almost visualize them giving it their all at the King’s Head last night. I wasn’t disappointed. The lads were amazing; the lead vocals Callum Wood just gave a performance like an old pro. Great to photograph and great to listen to.
As inividuals the were great, as a band they are faultless. If there is any justice in this world, they …

The lads performed in front of a pretty packed King’s Head courtyard. The lighting was simply amazing and Bob the sound guy was working hard. Everything was in place for some great photos and these unmodified ones are just a few of my favourites.

The weather last night here in Aylesbury was terrible and set the tone for the beginning of the evening; gray, low and there was a weight over the town but that all changed when the band Micawber came on. It was whispered boldly that this was to be their last ever performance together; what a crime! They really lifted the place and trust me when I say the place really needed lifting; the gathering was huddled under 2 make shift tents, the rain was not heavy but it was relentless …

Before I go to a gig I always do my homework by going to the band(s) Myspace & official sites. When I heard The Red Bullets, I was amazed at how much the lead singer was like Elton John. The tracks were equally up tempo and upbeat so I was looking forward to hearing them live.
The band with the sound & performance
All 4 members knew how to perform and just as important they looked like they were enjoying it. There is nothing worse than seeing a band looking miserable, and …

After the high energy of Slashed Seat Affair last week, I knew it would be a hard act to follow. I have not been disappointed with the acts so far however when Christina Tomlin (www.chrystinatomlin.com) came on I had an open mind.
The crowd took a while to warm up but Christina was a pro, dug in and sung her songs with passion. I was sold! I pointed my lens and searched for the killer shot. I admired Christina’s performance, she was selling it without being over the top. Sometimes in …

Pause are a rock band with a distictive sound, very enjoyable to photograph and Matt (the lighting engineer) really put on a great show around them. Claire Batchelor, who performed solo ealier, also supported Pause as a backing singer and guitar. The real character for me was the drummer, he was just legendary and really played up to the camera; his personality really came through and some of the shots just cracked me up!!

With a soft and gentle presence Claire manages to capture the audience with beautiful clarity in her voice and exquisite guitar playing.
Claire was the first act on so the natural light was still dominating the courtyard; it was overcast which was perfect as the organizer Stuart Robb had arranged for a lighting engineer to be there. I cannot say enough just how amazing Matt from PRG.COM was in his lighting. Claire was lit beautifully with soft blue lights, warm yellows. I had minor difficulties in finding the right white balance; …
