Lost Minute Video Shoot

Decisions is a song I have talked about before. When I met Adam and Danny last weekend I asked them if they had a Video for it, shockingly they said they didn’t. So I said if they wanted one made and fortunately they said yes almost immediately. I began planning.
During my preparations, I realized I needed a second cameraman but two of my original assistances couldn’t help. It was just by chance that I was introduced to a young woman who had a strong interest in photography on Saturday’s Family …

Runway Festival.

i was privileged enough to be invited to the birth of a new event The Runway Festival just outside of Waddesdon, Buckinghamshire. It was organized by Adrienne Aiken who owns and runs Runway Studios based out in an old disused RAF airbase. The setting truly is spectacular so I could easily see the potential of this festival growing and growing.

U2, Joshua Tree. Classic Album Cover Review

Very often I get asked for ideas on location and styles for an unsigned bands album photos. I tell them, what bands inspires them because that is always a good place to start. In my first review of classic album covers I wanted to start with a BIG classic; U2′s Joshua Tree.

There are thousands of reviews about the songs on the album, so I am not here to debate why this is a classic and nor do I intend to review the songs themselves. The purpose is to tie it …

Drum kits don’t come much bigger than this.

Last year, I was invited to a Drummer’s book launch. It was a modest affair but a good turn out in West London. The drummer, Phil Page, put on a great show and the evening was a big hit.
I am a drummer myself so for me the biggest star was the drum kit itself. I can’t describe how big the setup was, but I did not was an opportunity to photograph the kit from Phil’s point of view. The only way to fit it all in was to use the …

Michael Jackson’s Billy Jean. An acoustic cover by Lost Minute

One of my favourite acoustic acts, Lost Minute, perform and excellent version of Billy Jean made famous by Michael Jackson. I’m sure the late great Mr Jackson would approve.

The Red Bullets play to fans at Hobble 09

Without doubt, The Red Bullets are one of my favourite bands and that goes for signed bands too!
The lead singer Peter Edwards has earned his place as the band’s front man. Even though he sits down during the set that doesn’t mean we can take our eyes off him for a minute! Equally Pete’s brother Mark on the drums is a force to be reckoned with. I once made the mistake of playing on his drums, let’s just say he playfully suggested I stick to photography. Then there’s Mark Wheeler, …

Red Bullets. The ultimate group photo?

It’s getting late but before I hit the sack I wanted to share this with you. I don’t know what inspired me to stand at the exit of the stage but it felt like a good idea. It just so happened our good friends The Red Bullets were just coming off stage. Pete came off first so it was natural for me to take just one photo of him coming off. But then after Pete was Mark, then Kyle. Wheeler was still on stage putting some kit away. I needed …

The Original Sinners. The Old Skool shows the new kids how it’s done at Hobble

I love it when something surprises you with something totally unexpected. Take this band who call themselves The Original Sinners. That is quite a name (and reputation) to live up to. Now take into consideration the members of this band look like they are very close friends with Mr Jack Daniels!
It’s not often that I’m surprised, but I certainly enjoy it when I am. The Original Sinners came on and just blasted Aylesbury with a wall of sound, when the crowd picked themselves up they were presented with an onslaught …

Claire Batchelor playing on the acoustic stage, Hobble 2009

Claire is one of those talented musicians who is also a bit of a perfectionist, but this reflects in her performances on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the middle of Aylesbury. Without drama or pretension, she played through her set like an artist who had been perfecting her act up until the last minute; fine tuning every little bit she could.
Behind stage, she was as bubbly and engaging as ever. She will always greet you with a warm smile, and be the first to be support of other artists. GigPhotographer …

Mike Lee

GigPhotographer’s good friend Mike Lee played at Hobble on the Cobble. His cool, calm persona reflects his style of music and playing. He surprised everyone with a few tributes to the late great Michael Jackson. His T-Shirt should have been a give away though.
It’s always good to see Mike perform, and from what he told me, he was doing a “tour of Buckinghamshire in one day” that day
Good luck to Mike, and we hope to see him play soon.
