The AnyDays at Runway Festival

I had one of those tingling feelings when Adrienne from Runway Studios invited me to her Runway Festival last Saturday. It was like my Spidey Sense was preparing me a great experience. I am not entirely certain, but I think the tingling was about a band called The Anydays.
When they took the stage, I wasn’t sure what to make of them. It wasn’t until they burst into their song “I Feel Free” that they really caught my attention. With their catchy 60′s retro riffs and the nods to The Who …

Inspirations: A tribute to the unsigned bands out there.

OK, for those who are of a sensitive nature don’t read the next bit and skip to the 3rd paragraph.
I FUCKING LOVE MUSIC PHOTOGRAPHY!!!!!
Ok, I do apologize. I have been sitting in front of this Macbook trying to find a sentence that encapsulates my feelings for what I do. It’s not very Christian, but it’s definitely rock and roll. I have already photographed a living legend, it was a moment I’ll never forget. My problem was, back then I did not fully appreciate the opportunity. A year and …

Red Bullets. The ultimate group photo?

It’s getting late but before I hit the sack I wanted to share this with you. I don’t know what inspired me to stand at the exit of the stage but it felt like a good idea. It just so happened our good friends The Red Bullets were just coming off stage. Pete came off first so it was natural for me to take just one photo of him coming off. But then after Pete was Mark, then Kyle. Wheeler was still on stage putting some kit away. I needed …

Mike Carroll’s Groov8 @ Hobble on the Cobble 2009

Mike and his band had the difficult task of opening Hobble’s 2009, however the modest Aylesbury audience warmed to them very quickly. The lads performed well and kept up a good pace to keep the crowd entertained during their set.

Monte Carlo at Aylesbury’s Hobble on the Cobble.

When I first saw that Monte Carlo were playing at Aylesbury’s Hobble on the Cobble I was excited as I had previously heard them when they were ‘Fluid Lines’ and was eager to hear if they had changed anything else…
Their sound was still as energetic and capturing as it was and their new name reflects their new approach, regardless of the limitless stories they’ve told different people about the real reason for their name change; I was silly enough to fall for one of them – thanks Calum!
Their cheeky smiles …

Tinlin; two brothers perform at Aylesbury’s Hobble

These two were a pleasure to photograph and a real treat to hear their music.  I had not heard them perform prior to this festival, but their relaxed attitudes and friendly faces made me feel like I already knew them.
Their folky style, country boy style made them a band that seemed new but very familiar.
The brothers Alex and Rolf are very simple to photograph because they already have an interesting look about them. Alex gives al ot of heart while, although naff to say, Rolf has the soul. A beautiful …

Kajagoogoo headline Hobble on the Cobble. Exclusive photos.

Kajagoogoo arrived backstage to Hobble on the Cobble, swarmed by an army of a crowd awaiting their turn to get a glimpse of the band.  They were slightly jaded by time, but still have the attitudes of young hungry rockers.
The expectant crowd were not disappointed as they walked on the stage. They were met by a exuberant cheer as they started their set.
Terry and I were limited to the first two songs (one short of the standard three) so it did add a bit of pressure to get worthy photos. …

Nikon 14-24mm F/2.8

Update: new photos of the recent snowfall taking with this amazing wide angle lens. Click here to see it!
Forgive my indulgence, I wanted to write a quick post about my latest lens, the stunning Nikon 14-24mm F/2.8 ultra wide bad boy.
Even though I have had this amazing lens for some time now, I have not had the opportunity to use it as a proper gig. It has come out with me on a few weddings but even then I trust my Go-To lens more which is the Nikon 24-70 F2/8.  …

Tom Craven at the MK4U festival, Milton Keynes.

Ask, and you shall receive. Well, that’s what Tom did on Facebook; he asked his friends to go and see him play today at a free Festival held in Campbell Park right in the middle of Milton Keynes. Of course I went as a photographer, there is no way I am going to a festival without a camera!
Tom performed in the “Tea Room” which was literally that. It looked liked a TV Set of a Posh tea party if it were held in a tent. I thought it was done …

This was my penultimate day in Uganda. I write this almost 3 weeks later and all I can think about is Africa. I cannot say enough about the children there and how much I loved their spirit and happiness with who they are. In contrast since I have been back in England I have witness selfishness, greed, anger and pettiness which stirs me up inside into something bitter.
This day was a visit to the school setup by the UJV. My visit was timed to be during their play time in …
